Meany Hall was originally constructed in 1908 as the university's first student union, and it was named the ASUW (Associated Students of the University of Washington) Building. It was later renovated in the mid-20th century and renamed Meany Hall for the Performing Arts. The hall includes a main stage theater with seating for approximately 1,200 people, as well as a smaller studio theater with seating for up to 238.
